The five episodes

The series builds: first understand, then recognise, then act. Each episode also stands alone — if you only need the warning signs, start at episode 3.

Episode 01 · learning video

The invisible danger

What cargo diversion is — and why it has little in common with classic cargo theft.

  • The decisive difference: the goods are handed over voluntarily
  • Who can be involved — from driving staff to external criminals
  • Legal frame from embezzlement to CMR, without statute-chasing
  • Why cargo fraud follows the same patterns as everyday fraud

approx. 10 minutes

Episode 02 · learning video

The offenders’ methods

The usual approaches in detail, with case examples from survey practice.

  • Phantom carrier: the fake carrier in five steps
  • Double brokering: uncontrolled onward award of the job
  • Cargo hijacking: from cargo theft through to robbery
  • Insider offences and document fraud

approx. 10 minutes

Episode 03 · learning video

Spotting the tells

The warning signs in day-to-day work — and how to see them before the truck is at the dock.

  • Match plates against the insurance confirmation
  • Vehicle changes shortly before the loading window
  • Lookalike domains, free-mail addresses, phone numbers
  • Forged references and the trust trap

approx. 10 minutes

Episode 04 · learning video

Prevention: the protection system

Knowledge alone does not protect. This episode turns it into procedures that still work under time pressure — including who stops the load if something is wrong.

  • The six-pillar model of cargo security
  • Know Your Carrier: no job to an unchecked carrier
  • Call-back and collection PIN, control at the loading point
  • Tracking, contract clauses and the traffic-light system

approx. 10 minutes

Episode 05 · presentation

Own responsibility, law & the 10 golden rules

The uncomfortable episode — in presentation form, so it later works as a reference.

  • Responsibility in dispatch and at the loading point
  • Why the sham carrier never pays economically
  • Insurance reality: exclusions and rising deductibles
  • The ten rules as a summary of the whole series

approx. 10 minutes

Seminars at a glance

All seminars can be run in-house, as an open event or as a webinar. The content comes from handled loss cases — not statutes, but what must be recallable when it matters.

Seminar 01

Recognising & preventing cargo fraud

The video-series content as a live seminar, deepened on your own jobs.

  • Phantom carrier: fictitious carriers
  • Double brokering: uncontrolled onward award
  • Identity takeover of existing companies
  • Check steps before award
  • Immediate measures in suspected cases
  • Risk management & avoidance strategies

Available as a half-day seminar · dispatch, purchasing

Seminar 02

Transport risks and security

Transport risks are often underestimated; seeing them can prevent losses.

  • Duties of shipper, carrier and driving staff
  • Practical effects of liability and insurance
  • Documentation as evidence
  • Practice examples from loss surveys

Full day · dispatch, driving staff, purchasing

Seminar 03

Loss case & preserving evidence

What must happen in the first hours after a loss so claims remain enforceable later.

  • Immediate measures and further handling
  • Preserving evidence at the scene
  • Working with the average commissioner and the insurer
  • Avoiding errors in internal loss handling

Half day · dispatch, claims department

Formats

  • Video series. Five episodes, available at any time. The best start for new staff and for a refresh — without scheduling.
  • In-house. At your site, with your own jobs as examples. The most effective form, because the examples come from the house.
  • Open seminar. Dates with participants from several companies. Exchange about cases from other houses is part of the value.
  • Webinar. Compact format for distributed teams, in shorter blocks.

Who trains

The video series and seminars were conceived by Gernot Fischbach and are delivered by him. He is a transport surveyor and average commissioner with more than twenty years of practice in loss handling in international transport, and a specialist author on transport risk, goods packaging and cargo securing. He is managing director of cargo protection gf GmbH.

The content comes from our own survey practice — from handled loss cases, not from textbooks. The seminar series builds on a wide range of requirements and past seminars.
